An election for the Executive Board roles of President, Vice President, and Organizing Chair will be held beginning Oct 10, 2026. These roles each have a term of office of three (3) years, beginning November 23, 2026 and ending Nov 25, 2029.
Additionally, an election for an ad-hoc TVC chair position on the Executive Board role will be included on the same ballot as above. This position will have a term of office of one (1) year, beginning November 23, 2026 and ending November 25, 2027.
Eligibility for Holding Office and Voting Any AWU-CWA Local 9009 member who has paid dues in either the month of July 2026 or August 2026, has not voluntarily left membership and is in good standing is eligible to vote in this election. Members in good standing are also eligible to run for office provided that they are not a supervisor and that they are not ineligible due to criminal convictions as specified by Section 504 of the LMRDA. Members who have joined after August 2026 dues were assessed and who have paid dues in September are also eligible to vote if they have not voluntarily left membership before the election begins. For the ad hoc TVC chair position, only TVC members in good standing can be nominated for this position, but all members in good standing will be eligible to vote and submit nominations.
How to Nominate Nominations for each office will be accepted via email sent to elections@alphabetworkersunion.org. Nominations should include “Executive Board Nomination” in the subject line and must include the full name of the individual submitting the nomination, the full name of the individual being nominated and which office they are being nominated for. Nominations must be from members in good standing of the Local, as specified above, and be submitted by Saturday, September 26, 2026. At least three eligible members must nominate a candidate in order for the nominee to be included on the ballot. Individuals may nominate themselves.
How to Accept Nominations and Submit Candidate Statements Eligible nominees will be notified by the Elections Committee on Monday, Sept. 28, 2026. To accept or decline the nomination, nominees must send an email to elections@alphabetworkersunion.org no later than Saturday, October 3, 2026 at 7:00pm PT. To submit a Candidate Statement, nominees must submit their statement to elections@alphabetworkersunion.org no later than Saturday, October 3, 2026 at 7:00pm PT.
How to Vote Eligible voters will receive an email ballot through OPA Vote to their union email address on file on Oct 10.
